Patch 5.1 - A Grand Adventure - Asking Beq Lugg for help
Kristallexarch: Ich grüße dich, Beq Lugg, weiser Magier der Nu Mou.
Crystal Exarch: My greetings, Beq Lugg, wise magician of the Nu Mou.
Crystal Exarch: Beq Lugg. 'Tis good to see you again after all these years.
Kristallexarch: Bitte entschuldige unser Eindringen in deine Domäne.
Crystal Exarch: Please excuse our infiltration of your domain. We completely understand if you treat us as ill-intentioned troublemakers.
Crystal Exarch: And judging by your vigorous greeting, I daresay the feeling is mutual. To be sure, a simple shake of the hand would have sufficed by way of welcome, but I shan't complain.
Crystal Exarch: But we are not here to fight. We come with a request.
Crystal Exarch: But you must be wondering as to the purpose of our visit. We come to beg your assistance in a most urgent matter.
Beq Lugg: Eine Bitte, sagst du?
Beq Lugg: A request, you say?
Beq Lugg: ...Sh-Shake? Beg?
Crystal Exarch: Yes, and it is no triffling matter. We seek your knowledge of the spirit world. It is a matter of life and death.
Crystal Exarch: Our comrades' very souls are in danger. If we are to save them, we will need the benefit of your unsurpassed knowledge on the matter. Please, will you not sit and hear our plea?
Beq Lugg: Eine Bitte ...!
Beq Lugg: A request...! The sound of that word is so... enticing, so... irresistible!
Beq Lugg: Oh... How dare you. How dare you speak thus in my presence.
Beq Lugg: But that's exactly why I retreated to this lonesome-desolate place! To never again let myself become engangled in unpleasant entanglements!
Beq Lugg: It was to escape such words of temptation that I hid myself from the world of men...
Beq Lugg: Nein, nein, nein!
Beq Lugg: No, no, no! I swore to never involve myself with such things again! Who knows what intentions you're hiding? It's nothing but trouble!
Beq Lugg: You are sinners one and all, and I swore never again to have any part in your affairs.
Alphinaud: I understand the Nu Mou are known as capable traders, and if you decline an honorable trade you must surely do so with good reason.
Alphinaud: I can only imagine what terrible events forced you into a life of seclusion...
Also, willst du uns nicht wenigstens einmal anhören?
Alphinaud: But I assure you this case concerns the lives of our friends - and mine too. Won't you at least hear us out?
Alphinaud: But I know that the Nu Mou are a good and noble folk. It is not in your nature to turn a blind eye to the plight of those around you. And in treating with us, I am certain whatever mistrust you feel for man will begin to...heel.
Beq Lugg: Ich soll also nur zuhören ...
Beq Lugg: So I only need to hear you out... If it's nothing more, then... yes, I suppose I could...
Beq Lugg: If you will not be satisfied... I suppose I could listen... After all, there's no harm in just─
Beq Lugg: Nein, nein und nochmals nein! Ich hab es mir geschworen!
Beq Lugg: No, no, absolutely not! I swore it!
Beq Lugg: No! No, no, no! I mustn't. Not again...
Beq Lugg: You say you seek my knowledge? Do you even know what you're saying there? The last time I shared my knowledge with that tricky-treacherous court magician it ended in death and disaster! Death and disaster!
Beq Lugg: That damned court mage seemed to have the best of intentions too, and countless innocents died for my naivety!
Beq Lugg: You don't know what I'm talking about, of course. Simplistic simpletons, coming here and requesting my knowledge!
Beq Lugg: You know not what you ask of me. What horrors my knowledge has wrought...
Story choice 1
Bitte, bitte, bitte, bitte, bitte!
Please, please, please, please, please!
Refuse all you want! We won't lie down and accept defeat!
Beq Lugg: Ich halt's nicht aus! Was soll man da machen? Was soll man da machen!
Beq Lugg: I can't take it! What am I to do? What am I to do!
Beq Lugg: Of all the visitors I could possibly have... They're even more stubborn than I am...!
Story choice 2
Wir werden dein Wissen nicht missbrauchen!
We won't misuse your knowledge!
We would never misuse it!
Beq Lugg: Ihr wollt wirklich nur eure freundlichen Freunde retten? Und es geht um Leben und Tod? Hab ich darauf euer Wort?
Beq Lugg: You truly only want to save your friendly friends? And it's a matter of life and death? Do I have your word for it?
Beq Lugg: You wish only to save your friends? Nothing more?
Beq Lugg: Schwörst du es?
Beq Lugg: Do you swear it?
Beq Lugg: Do you swear it?
Story choice 3 (available if you cleared the Shadowbringers tank role quests)
Do you mean that thing with Branden and Tadric?
You mean the magical plague of Voeburt?
Beq Lugg: Ach, du weißt davon?
Beq Lugg: Oh, you know about that?
Beq Lugg: You know of the plague!?
Beq Lugg: Then you also know what kind of complex-convoluted responsibility comes with knowledge... And this does not deter you?
Beq Lugg: Then you know how dangerous soulcraft can be! Instead of saving your friends, you risk damning them. Are you sure you're willing to take that chance?
Continue
Beq Lugg: Also gut.
Beq Lugg: Very well.
Beq Lugg: Oh, very well...
Beq Lugg: What harmful-hurtful harm will it do just to hear you out? But I won't forget that you promised me an honorable trade.
Beq Lugg: I will hear your petition, but that is all! And I expect fitting payment for my troubles...
Kristallexarch: Vielen Dank.
Crystal Exarch: My thanks. I give you my word that you will not regret your magnanimity.
Crystal Exarch: Commensurate with your contribution to our cause. No more and no less, I promise you.
Crystal Exarch: Please follow us to the Crystarium, we will explain how you can help us there.
Crystal Exarch: With that settled─might I impose upon you to join us at the Crystarium? I'm afraid the nature of my friends' predicament calls for absolute secrecy.
Back at the pier outside the Grand Cosmos dungeon entrance.
Alphinaud: The others have already left for the Crystarium with Beq Lugg.
Alphinaud: There you are. The others have gone ahead to the Crystal Tower with Beq Lugg.
Alphinaud: I don't know much about the Nu Mou - after all, during our trip to Il Mheg, Alisaie and I had to wait for you with those cheeky Pixies. But the information Urianger gave me about them has proven useful as always.
Alphinaud: For the record, I truly wish we hadn't had to resort to using such words when treating with them. I have ever sought to convince, not compel. Yet I cannot deny that a part of me is glad Urianger shared his knowledge of the Nu Mou with us. Had he not, Beq Lugg wouldn't be here.
Alphinaud: At the least we managed to rouse his curiosity and appeal to his honor as a trader. Hopefully we will also manage to convince him to share his knowledge.
The German version has one more line here.
Alphinaud: Let's follow the others to the Crystarium. The Crystal Exarch would like to explain Beq Lugg the particulars of our problem in the Ocular.
Alphinaud: Speaking of whom─we should hurry. To keep our guest waiting would only add insult to injury.

Patch 5.3 - The Converging Light - The Exarch's farewells to Lyna
Lyna: Keine Zeit für lange Erklärungen, was? Hmpf!
Lyna: No time for long explanations, right? Hmph!
Lyna: “No time to explain”... Hmph.
Lyna: Typisch.
Lyna: Typical. The more tense the situation, the more you close yourself off. Even when the signs are obvious, like with your own body!
Lyna: The graver the matter, the less inclined you are to speak of it. Even when it is plain for all to see─like what is happening to you.
Crystal Exarch: But Lyna, this isn't a good moment...
Crystal Exarch: Lyna... This time there truly is no time.
Lyna: Es ist nie ein passender Zeitpunkt.
Lyna: It's never a good moment.
Lyna: I know, my lord. Were matters otherwise, I believe you would even be willing to speak of your past if pressed.
Lyna: Aber schon gut.
Lyna: But fine already. The commander of the city guard is in no position to interrogate you, so I will leave it be.
Lyna: Yet I remain afraid to do so.
Lyna: Though maybe it's for the best to live in ignorance. At least that way I can tell myself I know you, even if you're really a stranger to me.
Lyna: Afraid that what I might learn would make a stranger of you.
Lyna: ... Verzeiht, Kristallexarch. Wirklich.
Lyna: ... Forgive me, Crystal Exarch. Truly, I don't know what came over me. I... shouldn't forget myself like that in my position.
Lyna: ...Forgive me. There is no time.
Story choice 1
Vielleicht solltest du dir etwas Zeit nehmen, mein Freund.
Maybe you should make some time, my friend.
Perhaps a few words are in order.
Kristallexarch: Ja. Ja, du hast Recht, [Name]. Wenn du mich einen Moment entschuldigen würdest ...
Crystal Exarch: Yes. Yes, you're right, [Name]. If you'll excuse me for a moment...
Crystal Exarch: Indeed. Time must be made.
Story choice 2
Wir müssen los ...
We have to go...
We need to get going.
Kristallexarch: Ich weiß. Aber ich muss das hier klären. Es ist wichtig. Wenn du mich einen Moment entschuldigen würdest ...
Crystal Exarch: I know. But I have to clear this up here. It's important. If you'll excuse me for a moment...
Crystal Exarch: I know, my friend. I know. Just...grant me a moment. Please.
Continue
Kristallexarch: Meine liebe Lyna ...
Crystal Exarch: My dear Lyna... Do you remember when you were a little girl and got lost in the tower? I looked for you for hours, and was so relieved when I finally found you. We flew in each other's arms, and I honestly don't know which of us cried more tears of relief.
Crystal Exarch: ...Lyna. Do you remember the time you got lost in the tower when you were little, and I searched for you for hours on end?
Crystal Exarch: Or that peculiar cake I baked you for your tenth birthday? I had cooked up a truly hideous lump of dough. Hehe, how the good folks in the kitchen cursed over the chaos! But afterwards they lovingly decorated it with candles... and your eyes sparkled with joy when we ate it.
Crystal Exarch: And the cake I baked for your tenth nameday. That hideous lump the good people of the Mean covered up with beautiful candles...
Crystal Exarch: Or the time when you were still a young recruit of the city guard? I still remember exactly how frustrated you were with yourself because you hadn't been able to prove yourself in combat against the sin eaters yet. You stubbornly threw yourself into training since that day, and I felt for you when I saw your bitter tears.
Crystal Exarch: And your hapless first encounter with the sin eaters as a guard. Afterwards, you threw yourself into your training, pretending nothing was wrong, though I could see the tears in your eyes...
Crystal Exarch: All the time we spent together, the memories we share... The feelings that connect us, they are no less real today than they were then. And nothing in the world can take that from us. Nothing will ever change a thing about what we feel for each other.
Crystal Exarch: All these moments that we shared, all the feelings that accompanied them...they are as real as aught that came before, and nothing will ever change that─will ever change what we mean to one another.
Kristallexarch: Wenn ich dir Sorgen bereitet habe, dann tut es mir aufrichtig leid, meine Liebe.
Crystal Exarch: If I caused you worry, then I'm deeply sorry, my dear.
Crystal Exarch: If I have made you worry, then I beg your forgiveness. Heavens know you deserve better.
Crystal Exarch: I want to thank you too. Even in the darkest hours you were ever brave. A child of the Crystal Tower. A born leader the whole city looks up to. I consider myself very fortunate that I could be a part of your life.
Crystal Exarch: Through the darkest of times, you have kept faith with me, standing tall as a proud daughter of the Crystarium─as an example to us all. I count myself blessed to have had you in my life, and I want you to know that.
Lyna: Warum sagst du so was, du Dummkopf? Als würden wir uns nie wiedersehen?! Du hast wirklich ein Talent dafür, anderen Angst einzujagen!
Lyna: Why would you say something like that, you idiot? Like we'll never see each other again?! You really have a knack for scaring people!
Lyna: Why do you speak so? As if this were our last meeting? Truly, you have a knack for making people worry.
Lyna has consistently used formal pronouns for Exarch even while scolding him, but here she switches to informal and corrects herself to keep using informal in the line after this.
Lyna: Ihr ...
Lyna: You... You're the one who's an example to us all. You've lead the city, no, all of Norvrandt through countless dangers. And this time too, you'll undoubtedly show us the right way again.
Lyna: Besides, it is you who are an example to us all. You who have led us through countless trials. And you who will lead us through countless trials to come.
Lyna: Also: Es ist mir eine Ehre. Heute und auch in Zukunft. Komme, was wolle!
Lyna: So: It's an honor to me. Now and in the future. Come what may!
Lyna: So go, my lord. Do what you must. ...But take care.
